Hello Debera, I come from a region of Scotland that Doric is spoken and I believe it originates from East Scotland particularly along the coast right down to Northumbria. The dialect can be quite different as you move along the coast. Doric Festival & Language and Wiki on Doric Enjoy the links, Regards John
As I had mention in my posting on Clan's and families. I am from the Morrison Clan but my Scottish roots go further back in time with the family Shearer who were sheep shearers from Aberdeenshire. What you have posted to me and the links I thank you. I see just how this all fits into my family now. I would love to listen to my Grandmother speak in Doric and sing old songs. Thank you so much for this information.

Slan leat a chara,
Debera
It is a form of lowland Scots spoken in the North East, with different forms spoken in the countryside & the coast in addition the Aberdonians (toonsers) differs from the 'country loons' ,Ffor examples of Doric literature Sheena Blackhall is a good contemporary source and for humour get hold of 'Scotland the What' audio
