How did I become a Tink? Hum... do you have time for a story? Grab a coffee and sit yourself down. I'll tell how. : )
When I was an ity bity one, no more than 4 or 5 years old, I would go to my grandparents house during the day while my mother worked in the school kitchens. My grandad would keep me in tow and out from under my grandmothers feet as much as he possibly could. She was a bit tightly wound you see *wink* Well... one such day I was outside with my Grandad when the Ragman came down the street. He was walking ahead of his horse cart instead of standing tall on the cart as he usually did. The horse was limping as they came and when the scruffy old man saw us he waved and called out to my Grandad.
Grandad waved for him to lead the horse up to the pole barn, something he NEVER did! Grandma would have had a fit if she knew the Ragman had stepped foot up into the yard! But up he came at Grandad insistance. Up the drive and right into the barn with his horse and cart behind him.
Grandad picked me up and sat me up on his workbench where I wouldn't get in the way. And as he looked at the horses shoe they talked. I remember the Ragman saying to my Grandad... something along the lines of "I see you have company watching you work today" and my Grandad said "Oh NO!!! She's not watching! Thats my Mare... shes helping me!" And with a laugh he added, "She can figure out how to fix just about anything you'd care to show her!" And then the Ragman laughed and said "Well Lawry, I must say then! You have got the prettiest little Tinker I have seen."
And I have been Tinker, or Tink, ever since! :)
Now... If I may ask in turn? How did you become a very large bird? *giggles*
