About our project:
Our first project is a community recording of David Bowie's song 'Heroes' by 'The Helensburgh Heroes Experience', which is to be released as a single on 1st August 2009, in order to raise both awareness and funds for our charity 'Helensburgh Heroes'.
We involved as many local people, of all ages, as we possibly could, to take part in this, and are very proud that every single person involved in this recording was from the area (From Helensburgh to the Roseneath Peninsula).

Support for our project:
Practical support has come through a grant from the Scottish Community Foundation to enable us to make the recording.
Sections of the media in Scotland are also promoting it's release - STV News at 6, BBC Radio Scotland and our local radio station Your Radio, local newspapers and National press.
David Bowie's own publishing / record company (Fairwood) were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our version of the song. A spokesman said, "You can hear the passion in it" and have given us their full blessing.
David Bowie himself has shown a personal interest in our project and his official website has a news item on their front page about our recording. You can view the full story here http://www.davidbowie.com/news/index.php?id=20090710

How you can help support our project:
1. 'Heroes' will be available to buy via download from many online retailers such as ITunes etc and www.helensburghheroes.comfrom August 1st 2009 and will cost approximately 99p, so please consider supporting our worthwhile, inclusive and positive aims, by helping us reach the dizzy heights of the UK singles chart.

2. If you are in the Helensburgh area on the evening of the 1st August, why not come along to our official family style launch party at The Victoria Halls which will include a screening of sing-a-long-a Mama Mia on a giant screen (being brought up from London), a disco, and bar. Children are most welcome.
Details and tickets (£5 adults / £1 children) www.helensburghheroes.com

3. Please copy and paste this blog into an email and send to as many people as you can.

4. Add a link to this blog and promo video from your homepage, or email.

Thank you, and I hope that you will consider supporting us in any way you can.

Yours sincerely

We have recorded a version of David Bowie & Brian Eno's Heroes which we will release on 1st August. We want to promote the talent and creative spirit that is alive in our community + honour the local people that have given so much to the world over the years e.g. Logie Baird etc.
