Cannae keep a good Scot doon

A friend sent this to me just in the nick of time ~ you've all probably seen it, I hadn't. It gave a wee laugh to me and reminded me you canne keep a good Scot doon fer lang. MY SISTER

My big sister, Ellen Burgoyne Callaghan Pearson, passed away last Friday unexpectedly. When passing the obituary in the paper my mother said make sure you say Ellen was a proud Scot. Of course, how could I forget? We immigrated to the US in 1956 when Ellen was 16 years. She was not happy to leave her Granny, most of all, and then her boyfriend, Bobby (something) she gave to her best friend. I Belang to Glasgow.

The magic of Scotland ~Although I emigrated to San Francisco, California in 1956 at 6 yrs. old, our household remained very Scottish; food, language, holidays and attitude. One of the songs my father sang often was "I Belong to Glasgow" - dear old Glasgow town. I was born in Glasgow, Partick, left in 1956 for America-San Francisco which I call home now. Been hame a few times. Wrote The Skye in June novel about a Scottish immigrant family living in SF. Besides that I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, love my animals, ocean/nature, dancing and laugh. Have to have a wee laugh

June! thanks again for sharing this. i know what you mean, something similar happend to me, with my best friend and step father. we don´t know why, and it´s a hard moment, but i think: thank god for put them in our lives, such a beautiful people. and we are what we are, and we are here for what we´ve learned from them.
